In September of 2018, we started a new program to train and support Beekeepers in the Northern BEKAA Valley, in Lebanese remote villages along the border with Syria. (Kaa, Ras Baalbek, Deir el Ahmar, Ainata …).
The villages where Aurora initiated the honey production program, had been under attack by ISIS Syrian terrorists.

The Honey production program objectives are:

  • Improving villager’s income and life will keep them in their village
  • Investing in the purchase and maintenance of beehives to benefit more villagers
  • Offering proper training and know-how to selected candidates
  • Increasing the distribution, sales and marketing and of the honey production

AURORA signed an agreement with an independent honey producer and trader “L’Atelier du Miel” based in Mar Michael street Beirut who committed to buying the total honey production at a fixed price.

With the help of donors, we have been able to finance the purchase and maintenance of 160 beehives producing a minimum of 1.9 tons of honey per year.

The income derived from the sale of honey will pay for training and maintenance of the acquired beehives with a financial surplus to be distributed among the beekeepers.

We are currently looking at extending our sales efforts by creating our own e-commerce platform to be able to offer our products to overseas export markets and Lebanese Diaspora.

The objective is to increase our sale of honey by selling a portion of our production at retail prices and through export.

Should we be able to reach this objective we will have the capacity to purchase an additional number of beehives to new villages as well as to conduct new training.

Any financial support is welcome, in addition to possible cooperation that can result in additional sales or additional funding geared at increasing our production capacity.
